Skunk Cabbage (Lysichiton americanum) is a pungent, beautiful sign that Winter is nearly over and Spring is rapidly approaching. While I've always known the plant as its common name, Skunk Cabbage, it is also more affectionately known as Swamp Lantern. The bit of shimmer in the painting lends itself well to the lighter, charming name as it gently guides us through the last dark of Winter.
